Salesforce Expands Its AI Arsenal with the Acquisition of Spindle AI

Salesforce has reached a binding deal to purchase Spindle AI, an agentic analytics platform that simulates various scenarios and forecasts future business consequences. The CRM behemoth anticipates Spindle AI to join its Agentforce efforts as soon as the acquisition is completed, with a particular emphasis on improving Agent Observability and Self-Improvement components of Agentforce 360.

The CRM behemoth has been on an AI-driven acquisition binge over the last year, purchasing Convergence.ai, Regrello, Apromore, and Informatica in the aim of bolstering the Agentforce endeavor. This agreement with Spindle expands Salesforce’s portfolio of purchases aimed at improving the thoughtfulness and effectiveness of its agentic AI.

Unveiling Spindle AI: The Latest Addition to Salesforce’s Innovation Ecosystem

Spindle, marketed as a “Scenario Intelligence” or “Generative Business Analytics” platform, aims to assist firms in identifying probable future business issues and testing scenarios before they occur. Founded in 2021, the company has predominantly served enterprise clients (Fortune 1000/Forbes Global 2000) in the strategic finance and analytics arena.

Instead of simply asking “what happened?” with spreadsheets or dashboards, Spindle allows firms to consider what could happen or what the best next move could be, and run these scenarios.

It also incorporates AI agents capable of automatically generating scenario models from massive datasets and business assumptions. In addition, it can compare thousands of “what-if” paths rather than just a few manual instances.

Salesforce and Spindle Partnership

Furthermore, the platform provides “agentic prediction, forecasting, and key driver analysis,” which means it employs automatic machine learning (AutoML) to identify recommended business targets and drivers without having a PhD data scientist.

When we evaluate some of the challenges that current Salesforce clients experience, technological complexity is frequently high on the list. For many, massive amounts of data are dispersed across various systems, with much of it so complicated and unstructured that it is difficult to query or connect meaningfully. Salesforce’s acquisition of Spindle enables it to instantly unlock value and effectively use segregated data.

Salesforce Perspective

In addition to purchasing Spindle’s platform capabilities, Jayesh Govindarajan, EVP of Salesforce AI, has expressed optimism about absorbing the purchased party’s “world-class expertise”. Spindle’s leadership team is no new to Salesforce, with Co-Founder Ryan Attalah having founded ClearGraph, which was eventually acquired by Tableau.

Spindle Point of View

Ryan, Carson (Kahn), and Spindle AI have demonstrated experience in the sophisticated AI observability and multi-agent analytics functionalities required for measuring and forecasting AI-driven value,” said Jayesh in Salesforce’s official public announcement. “We’re excited to have them join Agentforce as we accelerate our roadmap and shape the future of agentic systems.
